Huawei Turkey's 3rd “Hand in Hand to the Future Summer Camp” closing ceremony was held under the auspices of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority.
The closing ceremony of Huawei Turkey's 3rd Hand in Hand to the Future Summer Camp, where children had the opportunity to get to know Chinese culture closely, was held at the BTK in collaboration with Huawei, the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, and the METU Confucius Institute.
The program was attended by Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Cultural Attaché of the People's Republic of China Consulate General Shi Rulin, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services Assoc. Dr. Serhat Ayrım, METU Rector's Advisor Hale Işık Güler, Huawei Turkey Deputy General Manager Henry Mingt, students, and instructors.
Recalling that the children were given training on Chinese culture, such as Chinese language, Chinese paper cutting, Chinese handicrafts, and Chinese martial arts during the activities, Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Karagözoğlu emphasized the importance of this project being realized through the joint efforts of the public sector, private sector, NGOs, and universities.
Drawing attention to the importance of the project in strengthening communication between different cultures, Karagözoğlu said, “You are at the beginning of the road. In the coming times, you will gain many different experiences and learn about many different cultures. One of the best ways to do this is the camp you attended. Because a culture can only be learned by living immersed in it. With this program, recognition and understanding of a different culture, appreciation of each other's linguistic and cultural richness, and opening a channel that contributes to world peace in this sense have been achieved.”
Stating that the program is also important in reducing the digital divide, Karagözoğlu said, “It is not just a cultural exchange; information was also provided in the field of information technologies for the future, and a step was created to better prepare you, dear children, for life in this regard. As you know, we, as the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, are conducting important studies to close the technological gaps between us and other countries in the world. Undoubtedly, such programs are an indispensable part of these efforts.”
Following the speeches, performances related to the culture of the People's Republic of China were held, and the students who participated in the camp performed a dance show. Certificates and gifts were then presented to the students.
