Press Release Regarding the Launch of TRABİS on 14.09.2022
In our country, the management of ".tr" domain names has been carried out by Nic.tr, which operates under the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) since 1990. With the Electronic Communications Law dated 10.11.2008 and numbered 5809, it has been regulated that the institution or organization that will allocate internet domain names and the procedures and principles regarding domain name management will be determined by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (Ministry), and accordingly, the "Internet Domain Names Regulation" prepared by the Ministry was published in the Official Gazette dated 07.11.2010 and numbered 27752 and entered into force. With the said Regulation, the authority and duty to carry out the processes and procedures regarding the allocation of ".tr" domain names have been given to the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK).
Upon the task assigned to our Institution, works have been initiated regarding the transfer of the ".tr" domain name management from ODTÜ to our Institution and the activation of TRABİS (.tr Network Information System).

In addition, technical developments have been made to provide domain name services at world standards, and the security of the systems has been enhanced.
At this point, the necessary preparations for the launch have been completed, and it has been decided to put TRABİS into operation on 14.09.2022. With the activation of TRABİS; the articles in the Internet Domain Names Regulation, Internet Domain Names Communiqué, and Internet Domain Names Dispute Resolution Mechanism Communiqué that have not yet entered into force will enter into force, and within the scope of the said regulations, the allocation of “net.tr”, “org.tr”, and “com.tr” domain names will be carried out on a "first come, first served" basis without requiring any documents, according to the priority order of applications in terms of time.
Another important innovation regarding the ".tr" domain name management is the establishment of an alternative dispute resolution mechanism to courts for ".tr" domain name disputes.
With the activation of TRABİS, it is aimed to grow the domain name market in our country, turn our country code extension into a global brand, and resolve domain name disputes quickly and easily.
With these exciting innovations, our country code top-level domain extension ".tr" will reach its true allocation potential and become a frequently preferred address by users.
